Medical Respite
Why Respite Care in St. Louis?
With 2.8 million people, St. Louis is the 21st largest U.S. metropolitan area with an estimated 2,500 unhoused adults. Most patients experiencing homelessness find themselves discharged to the streets or land in programs without access to daily medical care and monitoring. Alternatively, hospitals are obliged to keep them in inpatient beds to allow for proper healing which drives up healthcare costs.
Our Approach
Three Steps Home Medical Respite Program provides a sanctuary for homeless individuals who are too sick or frail to recuperate on the streets, yet do not require hospitalization allowing them to receive the care and support needed for healing.
